Upwey Billycart Races

Starting in 2006 as a local initiative to bring life and energy into the town, this very popular community event was coordinated by Upwey Community Group volunteers.

Scores of volunteers from various Upwey community organisations all came together to run the event including the CFA, Scouts, Football and Netball Club, RSL and UCG. 

The event received major financial support which was crucial to its running. The UCG would like to thank the Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Upwey Branch and Yarra Ranges Council for their support and generous sponsorship of the event over the years of its operation.

We would also like to thank the many local traders, community groups and individuals who contributed prizes, expertise and gave their time to ensure the success of the event.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the much loved Billycart Races are no longer able to be run. However, in response to community demand, UCG is continuing to explore possible options for reinstating this event in a modified form at some stage in the future.
